History of the Department
The department of political science started in this institution in the year 1980. Prof.N.C Neelamma was the head and worked as lecturer ever since the inception of the college till 2014. After the retirement of Prof. N. C Neelamma, Smt. K T Seethamma was appointed as head of the department till 2018. From 2018 Smt. Akshitha Naik T heads the department and Smt .Gayathri and Mrs Roopa M G serves as lecturer in the department.
The faculty members of the department have participated in seminars and conferences organized by the various colleges. Students get admitted to the B.A degree course on the basis of interest. The syllabus of the subject is being revised and framed once in five years. Library of the department has adequate number of books. The department conducts meetings, debates and discussions regarding available new books and magazines and periodicals to be recommended to the library annually.
The department conducts various outdoor activities like visits to courts, local self governing bodies and Vidhana Soudha to create awareness on Indian legal and political affairs among the students. The slow learners of the department are given special coaching and regular tests are conducted to improve their standards. Moreover, the departmental faculty is interested in guiding their students to attend competitive examinations
